Once again the Coupeville High School tennis team used its depth in doubles to pick up a win, this time edging visiting Klahowya 4-3 Friday, Sept. 30.

Once again the Coupeville High School tennis team used its depth in doubles to pick up a win, this time edging visiting Klahowya 4-3 Friday, Sept. 30.

The victory put the Wolves in excellent position to defend their Olympic League crown. Coupeville moved to 3-0 in conference play, and Klahowya slipped to 1-3. Chimacum is 0-2.

The Wolves have two matches left with Chimacum and one with Klahowya, starting when the Cowboys (0-2, 0-9) visit at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Coupeville won all four doubles matches in the latest Klahowya contest: 1, John McClarin/Joseph Wedekind won 6-0, 7-6(7-2); 2, William Nelson/Joey Lippo won 6-0, 6-1; 3, Jimmy Myers/Grey Rische won 6-7(5-7), 6-2, 6-2; and 4, Nick Etzell/Jakobi Baumann won 6-2, 6-1.

The Wolves dropped all three singles matches: 1, Mason Grove lost 6-1, 6-0; 2, Aiden Crimmins lost 6-1, 6-1; and 3, Tiger Johnson lost 6-1, 6-0.
