Fields heading to state for 3rd time | Girls golf

Christine Fields continued one trend and would like to reverse another.

Fields, Coupeville High School's only golfer, placed fifth out of 36 at the tri-district 1A golf tournament Tuesday, May 20, at Bremerton's Golf Mountain Golf Course to continue her run of state tournament appearances.

Each year at tri-district, she improved one spot, placing seventh as a freshman and sixth as a sophomore. This spring she shot an 87 to nab fifth.

The junior is making her third straight state trip, and it's there she would like to reverse direction. As a freshman, she finished eighth, but last year she slipped to 15th.

The state tournament is Wednesday and Thursday, May 28 and 29, at the Lake Spanaway Golf Course.
