Sultan blanks Wolves | Soccer
Sultan slipped ahead of Coupeville in the Cascade Conference soccer standings with a 2-0 win over the visiting Wolves Thursday, Oct. 17.
Coupeville coach Troy Cowan said, "We were out hustled and out played, but the score probably should have been 1-0. The girls played okay, we just need to find some offensive flow and start creating some more quality shots on goal."
He added, "Back to the drawing board, and we will just keep chipping away at it and go to work."
The Wolves received strong play from Joye Jackson and McKayla Bailey, who were the "unsung heroes," according to Cowan.
"Joye gave us some quality minutes. McKayla came off the bench…and did an outstanding job of holding off some serious Turk runs."
Cowan said Makana Stone and Julia Myers continued to put in solid performances.
Sultan raised its record to 2-8-1 (4-8-1) and Coupeville fell to 1-9 (2-0). The Wolves defeated Sultan 3-2 Sept. 26.
Coupeville entertains undefeated Archbishop Murphy (11-0, 13-0) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22.
