Coupeville pair finish swims at PNS meet

Cole Weinstein and Jillian Pape of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club represented Coupeville in the Pacific Northwest Swimming Championships at Federal Way's Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center July 25-28.

Weinstein, 18, competed in eight events and Pape, 13, swam in two in the meet which featured the top 1,000 swimmers from Western Washington.

Weinstein nabbed three top-20 finishes, swimming to 14th in the 200 butterfly (2:14.59), 18th in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.82) and 20th in the 400 individual medley (4:25.78).

Pape's best finish was 27th in the 100 butterfly (1:12.89). She added a 28th in the 200 fly (2:51.83).

Weinstein, a recent CHS graduate who will swim for Whitman next school year, swam in five other events: 23rd, 800 free, 9:14.61; 35th, 200 backstroke, 2:20.95; 39th, 400 free, 4:25.78; 39th, 100 breast, 1:14.08; 41st, 200 IM, 2:18.15.
