Three Coupeville High School basketball players earned honorable mention for the all-Cascade Conference teams selected earlier this month.

Senior Bessie Walstad and freshman Makana Stone from the girls team and Nick Streubel from the boys picked up the honors.

Walstad, a three-year starter in basketball, grabbed her second honor in two sports so far this school year. She was a second-team, all-league choice in volleyball this fall. She will play softball this spring.

Stone just missed being selected to the all-league second team in basketball, according to coach David King, finishing 12th in the voting even though she missed a third of the league games because of illness. Stone was also a starter for the Coupeville soccer team

Streubel, who plays football in the fall and track in the spring, is a two-year starter for the Wolves. Although he was one of the conference’s top lineman in football, the Wolves weren’t eligible for all-league honors because they did not play a full conference football schedule. He was sixth in the discus and eighth in the shot put in last spring’s Cascade Conference track meet.
