November 1, 2012 · 12:15 PM
Coupeville lost more than a pair of matches at the district volleyball tournament at Lynden Christian Saturday.
In addition to losing to Nooksack Valley 3-1 (17-25, 23-25, 25-22, 22-25) and Friday Harbor 3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 23-25), Coupeville lost head coach Toni Crebbin, who announced she is stepping down as leader of the program.
“The girls and I were really proud of how we played in that match and felt good coming into the Friday Harbor match,” Crebbin said after the Nooksack match.
“Not sure what happened,” she said. “But that game was a completely different story.”
Crebbin, referring to her resignation, said, “It has been a good 20 years, but it’s time for a break.”
“This has been one of the most enjoyable group of girls I have worked with,” Crebbin added.
