With eight months under her belt as Coupeville mayor, Molly Hughes will give her first State of the Town Address next week.

Tickets are on sale now for the event, which is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the Coupeville Recreation Hall.

Hughes said she plans on having a well-rounded presentation covering a variety of town topics from staffing and budget to completed and upcoming projects.

Her presentation will include staffing changes she’s made throughout the year and an update on the Town Marshal’s Office.

“It will be my impression of what a great staff we have,” Hughes said.

While discussing projects completed this year such as Madrona Way improvements, Hughes will also highlight projects the town will be working on in the coming year like updating the comprehensive plan.

“Since I’ve been here, the projects we’ve completed have been low-hanging fruit,” Hughes said, referring to projects that were scheduled and/or already funded.

Hughes said she will highlight some projects she’d like to pursue that require additional funding and/or outside contracting work, bigger projects per say.

As is usual for a State of the Town Address, Hughes will also discuss town finances, sales tax, property tax and other financial areas that impact the town’s economic vitality.

The evening is being hosted by the Coupeville Chamber of Commerce and will include an Italian buffet catered by Front Street Grill. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the chamber. Tickets will not be sold at the door and reservations are required.
