Applicant sought for fire district

Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue is seeking applicants for an open fire commissioner seat.

Commissioner Tom Smith resigned his position as fire commissioner on March 15, 2014.

Smith served the district as a volunteer firefighter from 1973 until 1999 and as a fire commissioner from 1997 to present.

Tom and his wife Ingrid will be relocating to the Tri-Cities area.

With the vacancy created by Commissioner Smith’s departure, the district is seeking qualified applicants who are interested in serving the community until the general election in November, 2015. Applicants must be a registered voter residing within Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue’s boundaries and must submit a letter of interest and resume no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
