Ally Roberts, a 14-year-old freshman attending Coupeville High School, earned several awards at the Washington State Fair, which was held last month in Puyallup.
She is also an equestrienne who won state championship in the trail class(intermediate division) at the Washington State Fair. She participates in the Blazing Saddles Four-H Club and rides at the Penn Cove Horsemanship Center between Oak Harbor and Coupeville.
She described the competition as an obstacle course which was also timed.
Roberts also won several other awards during what was formerly known as the Puyallup Fair.
She placed second place in stock seat equitation (western saddle), eighth place in bareback, and eighth place in in showmanship.
“It was stressful but it was a lot of fun at the same time,” Roberts said about her experiences at the state fair.
During the state fair, she was riding Tiger, who is 11- years- old and is nearly 16 hands tall. She has been riding Tiger for six years.
Roberts was one of six riders from Whidbey Island to ride at the Washington State Fair.
In all 120 riders statewide participated.
She said she plans to continue riding and, next year, she moves to the senior division in Four-H.
