Navy identifies three killed in Prowler crash | Update

Navy officials released the names of three crew members killed Monday aboard a EA-6B Prowler that crashed west of Spokane.

Department of Defense withheld the names until 24 hours after the victims' families were notified.

The three Navy personnel, who were stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, are identified this evening as Lt. Valerie Delaney, 26, of Ellicott City, Md., Lt. William McIlvaine III, 24, of El Paso, Texas and Lt. Cmdr. Alan Patterson, 34, of Tullahoma, Tenn.

The aircraft was conducting a routine training flight prior to the crash.

A safety investigation is underway to determine the cause.
