Island County Museum reschedules auction for January

Although the windstorm that was forecasted to wreak havoc on Whidbey Island last month didn’t amount to much, it still managed to wipe out the Island County Museum’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

So, the Autumn Banquet &Auction, originally set for mid October, has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. Jan. 21, at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge.

Landing an available date at a time of year when year-end gatherings are in abundance wasn’t easy, said Rick Castellano, the museum’s executive director.

“We were fortunate to get January 21,” he said.

The event will celebrate the museum’s 25 years and feature longtime Central Whidbey resident and business owner Muriel Pickard as the honored guest.

Tickets are $75. To RSVP, call 360-678-3310.

“It is a very important fundraiser for us.,” Castellano said.

The Oct. 15 date was cancelled because the threat of the major windstorm.
