Coupeville’s marine exhibit at the wharf gained a giant mural by local artist Kris Wiltse this weekend.

The new mural is mounted on a column and invites visitors to explore the full exhibit on the adjacent wall.  Inspired by Jan Holmes, a dedicated marine scientist and Island County Beach Watcher, the mural depicts the abundant life hosted by eelgrass in local waters.

The updated display is sponsored by Sound Water Stewards of Island County and reflects two years of planning.

The new display has been installed in phases since the beginning of the year.
