Editor,

On behalf of Coupeville Lions Club, we’d like to thank The Whidbey Examiner for their gracious coverage of our recent Lions Club Shopping Spree benefit event for Gifts From the Heart Foodbank.

This successful annual fundraiser was the result of many involved helping hands in the community—those who bought raffle tickets at the Coupeville Nonprofit Fair, Whidbey Island Bank and Prairie Center Red Apple, as well as your newspaper that publicized our efforts to help serve the hungry in our community.

Thanks also to local winner Tom Rusnak for donating half of his grocery spree to the food bank. Winners all! We’re very grateful for all of these organizations for their support over the years and we look forward to continuing that connection in the future.

We’re also thankful for the support of many in the Coupeville community who made small work of beating back hunger at a time when those shelves definitely needed restocking.

In appreciation of you, and all that you do, we thank you.
