Impressed by work of Helen Price Johnson | Letter

Editor,

National candidates are in the news around the clock in an election year, but local officials affect our day-to-day lives and deserve voters’ thoughtful attention as well.

During the years of her service as Island County commissioner, I have been impressed with the dedicated leadership and far-reaching accomplishments of Helen Price Johnson. Of those many achievements, here are three worth noting:

n As soon as revenues permitted, Helen supported increased law and justice funding.

n Helen worked in cooperation with state and local agencies on ferry and dock projects

n Helen advocated for open space in Island County, partnering with others on such projects as Henry Hollow on Camano Island and Glendale Beach on Whidbey Island.

Because of her tireless work for the well-being of the people, businesses and lands of Island County, she has my support for another term as Island County Commissioner.
